Weird Years
Weird Years is a new animated series that appeared on television screens on November 6th, 2006. It airs on Mondays at 8:30pm on YTV. My buddy, Phil McCordic, writes for the show and is also one of the voice actors.

The show takes a humerous look at the Dorkovitch family, immigrants from Kryobia, and their pet goat as they adjust to life in the strange new world of North America.

The Dorkovitch family consists of Donko (Father), Magda (Mom), Zozo (Grandma), Ivan (Son, played by Phil), twin sister Nadia, and Rasputin (pet goat).

In the first episode (Requiem for a Screen), Ivan gets addicted to video games (uhh, nothing I can relate to at all) and discovers the consequences (guest starring video game superstars Donkey Kong, Lara Croft and others).

Ivan Dorkovich is voiced by Phil

Still rocking

Back on this day in 1973, School House Rock! debuted on ABC making learning pretty cool. I still fondly remember sitting on the couch and watching these educational short films on topics including grammar, science, and math on our old Zenith television set.

Gen Xers certainly remember shorts such as "Electricity, Electricity", "Conjunction Junction", and one of my favourites: "Lolly, Lolly, Lolly, Get Your Adverbs Here".

Moshin' at the Grammys
I'm a bit embarassed to admit, but I'm watching the Grammy awards. My excuse is I was really just trying to watch the Simpsons but the Grammys were on instead (besides, Janet is out of town). I happened to see the Avril Levigne performance and noticed there was a little mosh pit in front of the stage. Now this was a mosh pit full of skater dudes that seemed thoroughly enthralled with the music. I have to assume the Grammy people ship in a few rabid fans into order to emulate the concert experience for those of us watching on television. Now Eminem didn't have a pit, so I guess they shipped out the skater dudes right after Avril got off the stage.
